I decided to move to New York City exactly two years ago today.
Within the next two weeks I…
gave notice at my job of 5 years.
ended the lease on my awesome studio apartment. (I took this photo from my window)
flew to Florida to suprise my father for his birthday.  I waited for two days before telling anyone about it so as to not overshadow the celebration.
skipped the final leg of my flight back to DC, hopping out at Newark instead to make arrangements for my move.
signed a lease on an apartment.
switched from yahoo mail to gmail.
applied for three professional fundraising jobs, interviewed for two of them - my best average before or since.
rode one of the maiden voyages of Bolt Bus back to DC.  There were three people on the bus including the driver and I paid next to nothing for it.
told my very first improv troupe, my DC family, that I was leaving.
found out that I was going to perform with that same troupe at the Chicago Improv Festival two months later.
shaved my beard into a moustache and wore it around for a weekend.  I still regret that I shaved it Monday morning before an important work meeting.
Looking at the list, I’m amazed to think about all of that happening so fast.  Before my second anniversary here arrives on May 1st, I am going to write a list (for myself, sorry Tumblrs) that covers my first whole two years here.  After a rough week, I think some perspective on how much has happened in such a short period of time would do me good.
I’m really glad I’m here.
